Has Microsoft Ushered in a New Era with the Cloud OS?

Break free from the legacy architectures chaining your IT department

The ability to virtualize storage across clouds might be the most exciting aspect of the Cloud OS. About 60 percent of all data center costs go toward storage.

All the hard disks in a data center are made by three companies - Hitachi, Seagate and Western Digital. These companies are the only three hard-disk makers in the world. Yet they can be packaged into a server by one vendor for $25,000 and then packaged into a different server by another vendor for $125,000.

Where's the extra $100,000 going? It's the same 24 disks spinning in the two enclosures. What makes one enclosure cost $100,000 more than the other is this massive overheard that the storage industry has inherited and created with their unnecessarily complex SAN methods.

Stop throwing your money away. With the Cloud OS, businesses can eliminate the 60 percent of data center costs that they're funneling into these legacy storage systems.

Who doesn't want to save 60 percent? For enterprises, that 60 percent in savings can add up to hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars over a three-year period. The days of having to spend $1.5 million on a SAN solution are over.

Any company that refuses to even consider the Cloud OS is making a big mistake. They'll pay a huge penalty for continuing to run their systems the old-fashioned way.

Finally, why is Microsoft uniquely positioned to lead the way with the Cloud OS? In a nutshell, the answer is experience. Microsoft has proven it has the ability to serve users at very large scales. Remember, Microsoft ran Hotmail for more than a decade.
